I liked the look of this online--it seemed large enough for a small dSLR and a lens or two--and the grayish-purple color seemed a refreshing change from the usual black camera bags. I have many Lowepro camera bags and they make a good, quality product. The discounted price here at Amazon brought it from "puzzlingly expensive" at $70 to "realistic" even possibly a good deal, depending on the construction and design, at $30.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed when it arrived. First, it is bigger than it looks--if you hold an 8x11" paper horizontally and imagine adding about 2" more so its 8x13", that's about how large it is, like a large shoulder purse, not so much like a slingshot bag.
But that actually wasn't a problem. The problem was that it is a nylon bag without padding. Yes, it has some nice design features--like an ouside open pocket on the right side for a small tripod or some other gadgets or a lens, a zippered pouch on the front and back, and a double zipper across the top of the bag itself (something I always like, being able to open and close it from either side). has no padding!!!
I don't know what Lowepro was thinking because in terms of protecting your camera, you'd be better off with a regular leather purse and an insert for the camera.
Maybe that's what the thought is here. Because there IS a gray soft "box" with heavy protective padding and Velcro strips on the bottom so you can position it in the center (or the sides) of the interior of the bag. It's about 7" tall and 4" wide, so you could probably stand a small dSLR or similar camera on its end with a short telephoto lens on it and it would fit. But since it doesn't attack to the sides of the bag, it seems kind of "floppy" in the middle or, as I preferred it, pushed over to one side, leaving half the bag for other things.
It seems like such a good idea, but didn't quite work for me. Maybe if you only had the one camera to fit in the padded box it would be a good travel bag, particularly abroad, because there is significant amount of room for your other things and it doesn't look at all like a camera bag. But if you are looking to bring several camera-related things in a bag with good protective padding for all of it, I don't think this would be a good choice.
Come on folks! Read the dimensions. The Lowepro LP36572-0WW Sport 12L is designed for small cameras. Personally, I use this Lowpro bag as a "lens bag" not as a "camera bag." In the field, I carry my Nikon D3300 dSLR camera with the 18-55mm kit lens with the neck strap wrapped around my neck and shoulder (messenger-bag style). In the Lowepro Sport 12L (which I also wrapped around my neck and shoulder) I carry two lenses (Nikon 55-200mm and Tokina 11-16mm) with both front and rear lens caps removed. This leaves one extra empty space on the side of the Lowepro Sport 12L. Now I can quickly and easily switch lenses by removing the lens from my camera and slipping it into the extra empty slot, and then grabbing the other lens and putting it on my camera. Cool. Slick. Safe.
UPDATE: After using my Lowepro Sport 12 liter camera bag in field for a while, I had to fasten a small quick-release carabiner from the bag's strap to the belt loop of my shorts/pants/skirt so the bag stays put when climbing hills/steps and the like. Bummer, but still like the bag very much (especially like the outside pocket for a water bottle).
Pros:
-Can hold my Nikon DSLR with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses in the removable case (the case is a little lopsided with both lenses, but I did not notice this while carrying bag)
-Comparable size to medium/large purse (see image for dimensions)
-Additional space for other items (wallet, cell phone, etc)
-Water bottle sleeve on exterior holds a slim 20oz or smaller bottle (a wide mouthed 32oz Nalgene will not fit)
-Lightweight/not bulky
Cons:
-Beyond removable case, there is only one interior zippered sleeve along the side and it is mesh. With my cell phone in this sleeve, I had to dig through the bag to find other little items (chapstick, lens wipe, memory card, etc). I used a small purse organizer so these items were easier to find.
-Found strap slightly irritating after wearing for extended period of time (3+hrs). This was remedied by wrapping a small towel around strap.
-The fabric of the bag is very thin. There is enough padding in the removable case to protect from bumps and jostles, but not much beyond that.
